Orchy, no, DH has some kind of arrangement with our flowing well to keep clean water cycling thru the stock tank. Its only cows anyways so there can be pond-growth on the bottom and no one cares.

Belle, yes, they fliter the mosquito larvae out of the water before they can take flight, its a duck's favorite snack.

Anythings possible, but I seriously doubt it. Although speaking of broodies, I have 2 broody bantams down at the barn.

One of the girls constantly escaped from the pen and I could never figure out how she was getting out. (Turns out she dug a tunnel under the chain-link dog kennel AND the telephone pole I used to deter digging predators.) She would escape every day to lay her egg in a cat litter bucket on top of the rabbit hutch, then spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how to get back in the coop.

The other day I couldn't find her running around and I was upset thinking some predator got her. Then, I thought to check her personal nest box and found her in typical broody mode.

I want a pond with the mosquito eating fish, and a solar panel pump.

I am discovering the joys of solar panel everything. For $20 I have a bug-free water trough fountain that cools the surrounding area and keeps the water cool too.

It's a big deal here, being cool.
