But Mrs. dacs decided not to go so a son-in-law went instead. But boy oh boy did Bono, Edge, Adam, and Larry rock.

My weekend report...

Wednesday - Late night run to town to see the new Transformers in IMAX 3D - Awesome

Thursday - Got the gun safe delivered, sold the extra washer & dryer, Shopped for all the parts for our long To-Do list, Bought the new BBQ Grill, Got started on the closet project (moving and adding shelving into bedroom closets, we have 10' ceilings so there's a lot of storage space overhead)

Friday - Did some work in the yard, some work in the house, set up a sorting station (we have too much stuff, it's time to get really serious about purging. I have containers set up and ready for trash, donations, or recycle. The rest will be kept but only if it has somewhere to be put away) Went room to room and inventoried the number of boxes waiting to be unpacked. Did I mention we have too much stuff. started to sort stuff.

Saturday - Tom's brothers birthday, BBQ at our house on our new grill. Had steaks cut special just for the occasion - YUM. Cleaned like crazy before they got here, how can 2 dogs lose so much hair and not be bald? Did a bit more sorting too. Had a great afternoon. Ended the day watching a movie while sorting through old paperwork.

Sunday - more movies and sorting, hauled a bunch of boxes upstairs, hauled some stuff to get rid of downstairs. More sorting, played with chickens, grilled dinner, more sorting... We finally attacked the big ugly mess in the workshop. The workshop became the default for anything we didn't have a specific place for, it's a huge room 17 X 22, stacked wall to wall, 4 feet high, with just a path through the middle. It's a mess. So we picked the north wall and began reorganizing. The stuff is just heaped in there, not even really stacked, so the first order of business is to start categorizing; sort immediately or sort later (must be done over the next 6 months!) we decided to clear along this wall because it had the least amount of stuff heaped against it and most of what was there had somewhere else to go, leaving us with a clean spot to start putting things that needed to be dealt with soon. It's amazing how that one little clean spot has changed the feel of the whole room.

Monday - Back to the cluster of clutter, this time we attacked the south wall. Again, this wall had a few big bulky but easily relocated "stuff" leaving us with a clean spot to start neatly stacking the long term sort. Now it's simply a matter of determining if a box can go to another room, if it needs sorting - is it long term or short term, then move on to the next box.
About noon we decided to take a drive. I called and ordered some yummy lunch which we picked up on the way and then drove over Hatcher Pass. Tom had never been over that pass and it's a pretty drive. Our borough is the size of West Virginia and the route we took just goes from one side to the other but it's a 120 mile "loop". There is an old mining town up there, some beautiful outlooks, the mountains were amazing and the weather could have been better, but all-in-all it was a great way to spend some time. Then we stopped by the senior housing where my mom lives, they were doing a picnic with fireworks (not spectacular since it was daylight but still fun). Then back home, sort some more, work on the other closet some more, sort some more.... the end of the day found us downstairs watching fireworks from NY and Boston on TV cause it's still daylight here so the fireworks aren't too spectacular.

Tuesday - my day off, dropped a dog at the vet for some dental work and a biopsy of a thing on her shoulder, now I'm writing to you all then I have to go alter some slacks, feed and water chickens, go to the bank, the library, the post office, the title company, the realtor's office, the DMV, the chiropractor for a massage and adjustment, then back to the vet to pick up the dog with fresh breath and clean teeth... so I can come home and fix dinner and play games online with friends in other states

Why does shipping have to be twice the ammount as the eggs?...

I think i may buy half a dozen silver sussex eggs from BC. Cost of eggs 28.00 (inc. Packing fee) cost of shipping... 53.75

It goes from the Glenn Hwy north of Palmer over to the Parks Hwy at Willow. Not a bad drive for a gravel road, lots and lots of trails to get out and hike up different peaks, most of it is above the tree line so bear danger is minimal, and the hikes are steep but for the most part pretty easy.the views are amazing and there's even some gold in them that hills

It's the same way with shipping to Alaska. I had to have some bulbs shipped to Saddi so she could mail them to me because the vendor only ships to the continental United States. Grrr is right.

Wow everyone's been so busy while I was away for a few days!

My weekend:

Thursday night went to the County Fair, in spite of the record heat, because I promised the kids and I can't break a promise. Thankfully, the booth doing western photos had A/C so we got a picture done of the boys. Left fairly early and got camper packed for the 4th.

Friday we fed and OVER watered everyone that is in a pen, gratefully the forecast wasnt showing anything above 90. Filled the camper tanks, flushed the antifreeze, filled the tanks again. FINALLY got the battery working, apparently I need to buy 2 new connections. Loaded the kitchen and dressers and off we went to drop the camper off at the lake. Then we turned around and came back, went to the Fair for about 5 hours (hey I usually do 3-4 days at the fair, one hour Thursday night wasnt enough time to eat everything on my list) let the kids run wild with friends and cousins, ate and ate. The Bigger One and his cousin are finally tall enough for the cool rides, so it was much more fun for me this year. Poor Little One is still 4 inches short of anything fun so he did a lot of watching. He's such a good sport it makes me feel that much more sorry for him. Left the Fair, and got to the lake at 11, so straight to bed it was for the boys.

Saturday the boys slept till about 8, which is late at the family cabin! They were eager to eat and play with all their long lost cousins. The water is pristine at that lake and its very small. The kids are fish. So, the day was full of play play eat eat play play and eat. Followed by mosquitoes and campfire.

Sunday was more of the same. Slight sunburns. Got a lot of reading done because there were 2 wonderful young men there in their early twenties who LOVED playing with the other kids at the water.
Sunday night was fireworks, and barring one near disaster when a fountaint tipped over and began launching flame balls into our midst, it was a smashing good time. It takes so long to get dark that the kids were up till around 12:30.

Monday I wrangled the kids out of bed and we all got in the water right away, it was SO stinkin hot. Swam and wilted for a few hours before I talked DH into going home to check animals. We were the first camper there, out of 5, not to mention the 32 cars parked there, and no one else was leaving, so we took all the food out and left the camper at the cabin till next weekend.

Got home last night and went to the basement after chores because of the tornado warning.

I need a nap.
