Speaking of ponies....I have decided to take my life in my hands and try to ride foxy again. Bareback. I am so crazy. I hope I bounce well in my old age. She hasn't been ridden in years and was no really safe to ride even back then.

I will wear my helmt and hope for the best.sound like a good plan? Lol

Maybe add a flak jacket to that plan, Nells.

Maybe I should wear elbow pads? Since the last time she bucked me off, I broke my elbow.

She just seems so docile.....like I could hop on and she wouldn't care....I don't want to do anything fancy. Just walk around in her field. I don't even own a saddle anymore lol.

I was already going to suggest elbow pads and wrist braces.

If I were you, I'd hang out with her in the feild while she grazes (wearing the gear so she can get used to it), and sort of drape your arms across her back. Get her used to being handled and such. NO WAY would I just hop on and hope to hold on...

I actually did that about a year ago.....the whole leaning on her back etc. As she did when she was first broke.....didn't blink an eye.

I need to bring a step stool. Darn tall horses. Can't imagine having a 16 hand horse. 15.1 is tall enough......

I can lay across her back with no problems......hoepfully she won't care if I sit up there too. And feed her carrots.

On days I didn't have time to ride I would go lay on Red's back while he grazed. I just loved the smell of him and watching clouds roll by and listening to him chew as birds tweeted. He was careful, and never made any sudden moves when I did that. But put a saddle on him and crow hop out of sheer meanness. I was the only one he couldn't dethrone, and I was the only one who'd climb on him bareback.

It took a stupid bicycle to injure my elbows. Damaged nerves in both of them but never a break. I apparently can do considerable damage to myself but I have strong bones.

I am the only one who has ever ridden foxy. I had her in training but they could not ride her. They tried a few times but she would immediately dump them and after a few more tries they said I would have to move her elsewhere, as they would not try again.

She doesn't trust people. Me, yes. But anyone else act like they are going to get on her and she jumps out from under them and then won't let them near her.
