Yeah debi, lye and oil i've got tons of, l buy it in bulk. The mold holds enough for 8-12 bars, which is perfect for a house or gift making. I can pack up my equiptment, and bring it along. I have a scent called rainforest, it smells like, well soap (sorta like a bar of irish spring or zest), turns out i'm dead allergic to the scent, but if you can handle normal soap it's fine, I can leave you the bottle of it to play with. Figure out what scent you want, and i'll bring it along.

Yeah, the technique's different but it's doable.

Well, it depends on how into the chemestry you want to delve.

If you want to save some and go at it from a hobby craft angle, this base, does a good job, it's a concentrate, so you blend in 4 parts water (distilled is a MUST!) a pinch of garaben (natrual persertive, if you skip this it'll form bacteria, killing the whole point of using soap), and any scent you'd like. It'll make ~ 7 16 oz pump jars of liquid soap.

If you want to start with oils and begin at the beginning, you'll need sodium possium instead of sodium hydroxide, with the understanding that you'll be making a caustic reaction and will use the safty gear needed to keep your skin intact...

Using the base only costs about a dime more per bottle and is much safer, especially if you're thinking about a mommy and me craft. I don't let my teen in the room when I'm making the lye reaction, too much can go wrong.
