Ratbird still lives in coop---I am free-ranging the birds again today, because we hit 118 and I wanted them to be able to find their own cool spots (long story here, I'll tell it some other time)

Anywhoo, she elects to stay on her perch, rather than fly away. The neighbor called and said she raises pigeons, and will take her. So, ratbird will be moving on sooner than later.

Why can't we report PM's? I think it should be an option for complete rudeness that is totally uncalled for and unsolicited from someone I have never interacted with.

118 today. So far, no croakers. We did have a VERY near thing with 14 day-old chicks I am brooding for someone who is traveling to Mexico. (2 of the chicks are Icelandics from Mahonri's birds, and will be living at my house forever!)

Poor birds spent 10 minutes in an air-conditioned car, and were almost DOA. Their momma freaked out, but we hit them up with electrolytes, sugar water, and since my icemaker is APPARENTLY broken, made them a nice little air-conditioned room comprised of my entire stash of frozen bananas.

The DH came home, rushed back out, and brought back 5 squares of ice. Hello, chickie igloos!

I was SURE 4 of the chicks (buttercups) were goners, but after 10 minutes sitting on a Jeffer's ice pack, in an igloo, the perked right up.

Show today was fun. Lori went with me

It was a triple show.....The tribble got 2 Best of Breed and 1 Best Opposite Sex. Can't beat that. 3rd judge was an idiot and everything he said contradicted what the first 2 said....he didn't even notice a DQ on one of my younger girls. Fail....

Got some really nice prizes though. A framed certificate/picture for first BOB, a hand painted plaque for the 2nd BOB and a handpainted wooden dreamcatcher thingy for the 3rd BOS.

She absolutely hated showing and will be retired for breeding. Got good input on what to breed er to to really improve on her.

it's hot but I managed to survive dinner, pool time, and old film of my 3 older sisters when they were kids/babies without incident.


I did not bring my suit but rather sat on the side of the pool with my feet in and then was repeatedly "canon ball" sprayed by my lovely little 6 year old nephew, Brady....that's ok, I managed to kiss him for payback.
