Laree, I had eggs incubating on a coop shelf while the weather was warm. They're in the bator now, too. So at 117/60, your eggs might incubate successfully in the shade....

109 in the shade. Tooo hot. Clucking and I were going to do an expiriment this summer, but got distracted with life....

Anyway, it is only 60% in the afternoon, ~20% the rest of the time. Since it is still so hot in the shade, you actually need the broody to act as insulation and COOL the eggs.

My DD left her guinea pig in the care of my mother. My sis just told me mother has not been taking care if it.

If that thing dies, my daughter will never forgive my mother AND will be totally devastated. My mother is such a jerk.

My sis once looked after some spice finches but somehow didn't realize they needed to be fed. Dead birds.

Been there, done that with Gulf Frittilaries. Pretty!!
Except for the 'fluids' as they emerged from the chrysalis....

I am currently caring for DD's guinea pig. Cinderella promised she wouldn't die on my watch if I gave her plenty of treats. Apparently 'plenty' means something different to GP's than it does to me, judging by her squealing as I walk away....

Athena does the same thing. Come 5 pm she starts squealing and chewing on the bars of the cage. Being that my mother cloisters herself away in her bedroom adn doesn't ever participate in "family" activities, I guess she can't hear it.

What?

It looks a lot like a couple of drops of blood. Birth is painful, Buffy, and messy as well. Even for butterflies.

I think it's best Buffy refrained from "going forth and multiplying". I don't think anyone would have survived it!

Cinderelli doesn't wait for a particular time. She squeals any time she sees someone tha might pause long enough to give her treat.

She hates DH because he never feeds treats, and yells "Hey pig, what's the haps!" every time he passes her...

That's why I wondered about the caterpillars / butterflies. It's a way cool thing to see, and pics of freshly emerged butterflies are gorgeous (before they get their wings all scruffed up as they breed), but there is some ick involved as well. And not just caterpillar poo which is pretty ick sometimes as well.
