I felt your pain, Buffy. Literally. My maiden name was Suggs. Heavy enunciation on the 'g' and people still said 'Lori Sucks'. <sigh>
When the song "Boy Named Sue" was played I soooo knew what the song was all about. Playing drums helped. People are nicer when they see you carrying sticks and know you know how to use them. "Heads sound remarkably drumlike when struck just right," I would say that as I played cadences on the back of a bus seat.
