Fuzzy and tired. This headcold has made me exhausted all this week so I haven't worked out since Friday morning. I feel like a slug.

I agree on the overthinking. I did that when I first had them.....now, I just throw food out, fill up water bowls in the morning and go about my merry way. 80 chicks in an 8x8 coop? Whatever, works for me. My chickens either get with it or don't.

I do have a pair of super adorable young bantam cochin pullets. They are mixed colors but super adorable. And sweet. I wish I could find someone who would spoil them rotten locally. I have them still in a brooder in the garage and don't want to try to move the out midwinter. Every night they visit me when I feed the broodies and babies. Last night one flew out the open garage door into the pitch black yard. I just shut the door and locked it outside and went about my business. She came back! LOL.

People forget.....its not rocket science. They are just CHICKENS.

We can ooze along together...my sole accomplishment in the workout department this week has been hauling water to the horses and tossing a few hay bales. I haven't had a real workout since Saturday and don't see one on the horizon until probably Sunday.

I consider cleaning a workout. And I hauled water to the chickens every morning. My butt doesn't touch the couch until about 9pm every night. Sigh.

I'm talking about the "do you think my chicken (fill in the blank with some human type emotion here)..." type posts. I think your chicken will be unhappy if a) something eats it b) it freezes off its feet c) it has to live all alone or d) you don't feed or water it. Other than that, I don't think chickens really give a flying splort.

There they are in the back left....

They are a hilarious little pair.

I call that group the peanut gallery...they are in the top level of a 2 level brooder shed. Whenever I am messing with the bottom brooder, they all hang over the edge, dropping shavings on my head.....or jumping out and running off.

Come get em Orchy! LOL

Then I assume they will rip them off and stomp them into a freshly laid pile of poo in the coop.

I don't mean that people shouldn't take the best care of their chickens that they can (yes, all my animals are spoiled beyond belief) but really, one should not worry about things like if it's okay for a hen to raise another hen's chicks...that's just nature and common sense...
