Office Work.......

Ok so after coming out of my caffeine-lees funk yesterday. I woke to the sound of a distressed turkey baby. Now I know they were all int eh barn last night, and I was hoping that I was mistaking the cry for some other birds but no. The turkey baby is on top of the coop. I can't get him down and he didn't seem very inclined to do so on his own. I am hoping that he will stay under the tree limbs and it won't get terribly hot in the shade on the tin roof til Jeff and I can get to him tonight. OR, he is convinced by the chickens to come down sometime today on his own and in turn is not pecked to death by the hens and roo in the coop.

This has led me to the basic realization, that turkeys are not my destiny. I have had the worst luck with turkeys. Last year my first three babies drown. The lone survivor then suffocated my next set of babies. Of the third set of 6 I bought 4 died. And I ended up with 3 males!

I didn't know you were a fan! I see your point now.

Batty, I have weird luck with turkeys, too. The domestic eggs that I've tried twice to hatch failed both times. Even the ones hand delivered to me by a coworker.
But the wild turkey eggs that a rehab guy told me would be impossible to hatch or raise (he let me try, he didn't want to bother) are doing awesome! I hatched 7 of 8 eggs, lost a babe that hatched badly, and still have 6 poults 10 days later. So I'm doing great with turkeys I can't keep.

I feel so badly for this lady. I wish I knew someone that lived near her

Some people don't want to be apologized to. They just want to be eternally offended and self-righteous. I had that happen with a lady I accidentally cut off (I thought she was turning somewhere sooner), and when we arrived at the same gas station she ripped me one too. I knew I was wrong so had no problem saying so and that I was sorry. She would have none of it. She just wanted to stay offended.

Me too, and that she could pull herself together and want to go on... well, bless her. I would love to live in Kentucky, but more so now so I could help her. Doing what, I don't know, but moral support, you know...

What?

Ok, you gotta tell me where this thread is.

x 2

If this is true, this reminds me of a lady a couple years back that faked a coop / barn fire, with aftermath pics and everything, including heartbroken little children. BYCers flocked (no pun intended) to her aid. I even was fool enough to send a ten buck bill to her. It was all a scam. Turns out that some people just specialize in scams, going from forum to forum and help agency to help agency.

Can we shoot them?
