The cheapest I've seen the PO approved boxes is $50 and that's if you buy several at a time.
And then the overnight shipping.
And you have to ship them from a large 'hub' facility.

If you look on the USPS online there are instructions. Your PO may be big enough but in our area I had to go to a hub. But its very much a major PITA, and that's before you even start worrying about them losing the birds.

DH just offered to buy me some taffy & peanut brittle. He's such a commode-ion...

Why have you not posted any butterfly pics???
And given a ramblings discourse on the nature of butterfly splort?

Because the shots are on my home computer and I hafta take the time to upload them to here. But DH has me shoveling more gravel tonight, so it might take a bit. I've got the last chrysalis on my desk here, it's totally black. It's going to hatch in a couple hours, I just know it. Can't wait. Did I bring my camera to the office? NOOOOOO. Dumb-___.

There was a lady at the farmers market last year that sold monarch crysalis that were on the verge of emerging. You had to agree to set them free. Somehow the butterflies had been tattooed so that they could later be tracked after they migrated. Amazing!

Okay. Every other babe in America has a butterfly tattooed on her butt. So I'm guessing the butterflies you're talking about are flying around with a muffintop chick tattooed on their thoraxes. (is that the right word?)

That sounds great, and yes you got the word right.

Sadly, all they got was an alphanumeric code. Poor butterflies got license plates tattooed onto them...

I'm not sure I can handle that much traffic!

I promise we will yell "car!" if anything comes by.

As opposed to sauteeing them up for dinner?

Or feeding them to the cat.

Monarchs have toxins that can make lil kitty hack hack hack up a little fur covered lung.

That's what I was told about Blue-Tailed Skinks but my cat snarfed up Skink tail like it was spaghetti!

Last time we discussed furballs my cat yacked one up for us at bed time. DH stepped in it. Ah, good times...

Your moron cat ate the tail of a blue-tailed skink? [hating the mental picture I'm honing in on]
