I am really going to try to get to about 25 large fowl and 25 bantams for winter. I have a BUNCH of chicks in a brooder right now (that I do not include in my totals, so take that), and ALL boys that are not part of a certain color project that shall not be named (cough blue brahma cough) will go the next swap. $1 a boy, adios suckers.

I sold my mille fleur cochin flock, but am keeping 1 rooster who is such a little b@stard that he warms my heart.......and I have a few poorly colored project babies that will stay just for kicks.

I do have some nice layers for sale if anyone needs any! RIR hens who are right at a year old, some young RSL and cross pullets who just started laying a few weeks ago, etc etc. Very nice girls too.

Nella, now that the Knoxville chicken ordinance has passed I'll put the word out to a few friends that I know where to find young laying hens. Maybe I can help you sell some birds.
And at a $1 a cockeral you will definitely sell them quick!

And, happy day, my offer of experimental partnership was accepted gleefully.

Now I only have to find homes for about 6-9 more chicks LOL.
And then some homes for a few goldneck....

Awesome! I have so many birds that really if someone was looking for a couple nice girls (standard or bantam) or even a group with a boy or something, I could probably help them out. I have TONS of bantam cochins, but I just love them and would probably only sell a lot of them to really nice 'pet homes'

In other news OMG cutest chick ever. I have a baby with my broody mom who has a smashed face.....maybe stepped on as a chick or was folded up weird in the shell?

Is that not the cutest thing EVER?

Looks like it could be Gonzo The Great's soul mate!!

One lady I know would want only standards, since she bakes a lot. And she can't have a roo because of the ordinance.
But any hen of hers would be SPOILED ROTTEN and have a forever home, for sure. This lady has owned a parrot for 20+ years, and her DH knows that if there's ever a disaster the bird would be rescued before she'd look for him....

Well I have 2 red sex link girls who JUST started laying (or at least 1 did, not sure on the other) and a white leghorn/giant cross who is the same age and is POL if not already laying. They are best buds and really NICE girls. I don't handle mine so they don't want to be picked up but these girls come RUNNING for treats. Here they are, first at the steps when I get home from work

Those are some pretty girls, Nella, and I know Jenny was wanting birds that came from a good home. We had discussed me hatching some for her, but the waiting was something she wasn't sure she could stand. This would be a cool compromise!

Let me know how much you want for them and I'll see what she says.

$10 each

I had 10 red sex links originally and kept the prettiest two. The white leghorn/giant cross was hatched from my own flock......the older birds I have of this same cross are good layers and GREAT broodies.

How many are allowed under the new law? If she wanted more she could come pick something else out too I guess. LOL

ETA: I have a cute little splash andalusian girl too......she is nearing pOL, super cute. Very petite.

I'll ask Jenny about it. With the $50 registration fee, she may not be able to afford to buy any hens right now

I forgot about the registration fee....

They're allowed to have up to 6 hens, no roosters at all.

I KNOW! I felt like singing All the Leaves are Brown and buying white go-go boots! They say if you were around to wear a fashion trend the first time, you should definitely forego wearing it the second time. But c'mon, it was $3 and it fit! Although it was a bit racy around the neckline so I stitched it up to respectability. No bendover delights from me!

I hope someone didnt' already do this.
