Office Work.......

My broody hatched 2 babies, but I took them away from her and put them in the garage with the bator babes. I don't have enough space to coddle Ms. New Mom and let her raise her young. She's never been broody before, so I had visions of her leaving the babies outside in the rain today.

I'm ready to be broody-less.

Yes, unquote them, just like unfriending. My Office Mgr has customers like that too, usually foreign ones that then question every single item on the quote. Our products have a set price which can be seen online, but those people want QUOTES! (No wonder my Office Mgr is cranky all the time...)

Balmy 68 degrees, sounds like this office.

Well, I only have 4 broodies now. Only.

1 has 7 babies
1 has 4 babies
1 has 9 babies
1 has ??? babies

I booted the mom with only 1 baby back out to the flock a week or two ago. Took her baby and gave it to a different broody. That momma will accept anything and her chicks were only a week younger. They are all happy as a clam.

I have the 4 garage brooders, but 1 has chicks. I think they finally need to go outside..........so I can use that brooder for the mom/babies. The carport brooders are useful but I never put lights into them, so they are dark and really better for hens setting on eggs or birds that need to be isolated. They will be moved to the garage around Christmas when I have some big muscle help.

You guys are such chicken enablers... I'd sure love to see a hen with chicks in real life. I never have.

I got to my computer at this office today and the Office Mgr had put a sticky on it that said not to use Facebook on this computer. I told her I hardly ever did, but why? She said their computer maintenance guy visited last week and told them that FB is a source of lots of viruses.

Anybody ever hear that???

I've got a new broody at the barn. I noticed her on Thanksgiving, so she's been sitting about a week. She's a Silkie/Cochin cross and it's her first time brooding. I just marked whatever eggs were in the nest when I found her and she about killed my hand. Hateful little thing. Can she pick a more inconvenient time to go broody?

I don't even know if the eggs are fertile, although there's 4 bantam roosters in the pen with a dozen bantam hens and a few standard hens.

hi Belle! Only 14.5 more hours of holding that baby in before you get the December birthstone......like my countdown?

This broody is very hateful. She is an experienced broody and this would be either her 3rd or 4th batch of chicks THIS YEAR. She had partners for her last batches.....this is her first batch "alone". I will check again tonight to see what's going on under her. Might steal all the live babies out, TAKE A PIC, and then count eggs that are left. There were a couple chicks this morning that were still not completely dry.....so it is still a work in progress, LOL.

Buffy. You were like a fairy tale princess bride. GORGEOUS.

Facebook itself is fine, but a lot of the applications will give you viruses. If you stay off the applications, you should be okay.

So, I opened a new bottle of Chocolate Raspberry creamer this morning and poured about a half inch in my coffee cup before I realized I was supposed to be pouring in coffee first.

In regards to the girls, I have had one mammogram, and will start every year when I'm 35. That's also a big part of the reason I try to eat healthy and exercise almost every day...no smoking...I like green tea...my only downfall is that I do like to have a drink or two every day. Usually red wine, but still, I really shouldn't...but what's the point of living forever if you're not really living, right?

Question - if I trim my rooster's nails, will the hens lose less feathers? Their backs aren't bald yet, but they're looking awfully scruffy.

AND I got two eggs in one day yesterday! First time!

It seems more and more likely that I'll make it. With the other kids, I always started labor between 6 and 10pm, so even if I go into labor tonight the baby will probably be born in the wee hours of the morning. I've never been one of those lucky women who have short and sweet labors.
