Throw the horse apples into the coop for the chickens to recycle. Steal some sweet feed from the horses and make 'porridge' for the people to eat.

Make dandelion greens into a salad. And you can brew green pine needles for a tea that's rich in vitamin C (just don't brew for too long~ turpentine).
I can't think of any other foraging type things that are available unless you make your DH go hunting....
Or have a really reliable guide to mushrooms. Aren't morels in season soon? (Not that I've ever eaten one. I just find it fascinating that people deliberately eat fungus even when it won't make them hallucinate.)

I have four dogs. You can play with them Friday and get your fill of dog time.

And then aaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllll the way home I will have to listen to DH talk about how much they smelled, or shed, or slobbered or pooped.......... It will always be something with him.
His current reasons have to do with travel, the cost of boarding, and the lack of litter box training and food self-control that keep dogs from staying home alone over the weekend the way cats do.

Tell Jim to lighten up - that is a load of buffalo dung. My big ole goober, Casca, eats the same amount daily whether the exact amount is there or three scoops more is there and he is only 2 years old. Also cleaning up dog poo would not kill him!

Jim is OCD. The poo might really kill him. Also, I personally would rather have an alpaca and already have tacit permission for one (but don't remind him lest he renege).
