On a work related note, joyful happy day here, the head drama llama is out today, so the followers are in their corrals wondering what to do.

Then they proceed to terrorize it usually in the middle of the night and by the time we get up there are feathers everywhere. Buddy boy just doesn't get that Brie is not a killer. I've seen her play with mice and walk away after she's tired of it.

Batty, I liked your article. I wish you'd mentioned poultry shows as a way to view the different birds and meet local chicken peeps.

g~ DH was working on our deck, when he felt he was being watched. He turned, and saw Jezebel sitting on the porch railing with a bird in her mouth. he said, "Alright, I see it. You can spit it out now." She 'plthewed' the bird to the deck, merouffed at him, and walked away. He disposed of the body. Jezebel has had no front claws for years, and caught her first bird last fall. Luckily she's a sparrow hunter and not a songbird hunter.

When she caught the first bird she was so excited she yellew "Merouf! Merouf! Merouf!" at me as she raced down the hill to me in the backyard. Then she plthewed the bird at my feet and sat down, wrapped her tail around her feet and glowed with pride.

So I think they jay head it a token of your cat's love for you. It's important that you not let them see you throw away the souvenir.

Cats bring you food because they think you can't fend for yourself. Like Deb's feral cat bringing birds to her indoor cat. So, while seemingly sweet, they are essentially saying that they think you're a moron.

My cats leave me shrews outside the back door...they apparently think that I need to go on a diet. Shrews are like an inch long.

That's a heck of a way to get out of work. Couldn't you just have taken a vacation day?

The feral cats catch all sorts of things. If the chooks are free ranging, the cats will race over with the mouse/squirrel/etc... Best if they get to a roo, and they spit the vermin out. The roo does the "Food, lovely food!" song, the girls race over, and the cats sit back and watch the fun and games.

Alas, at chicken lock up time, the ferals still hunt and then just leave the vermin by the door to the coop. So you have to be careful to not step in the pile.
