g~ DH was working on our deck, when he felt he was being watched. He turned, and saw Jezebel sitting on the porch railing with a bird in her mouth. he said, "Alright, I see it. You can spit it out now." She 'plthewed' the bird to the deck, merouffed at him, and walked away. He disposed of the body. Jezebel has had no front claws for years, and caught her first bird last fall. Luckily she's a sparrow hunter and not a songbird hunter.
When she caught the first bird she was so excited she yellew "Merouf! Merouf! Merouf!" at me as she raced down the hill to me in the backyard. Then she plthewed the bird at my feet and sat down, wrapped her tail around her feet and glowed with pride.
So I think they jay head it a token of your cat's love for you. It's important that you not let them see you throw away the souvenir.
