Never thought about browning the butter first.

I do it all the time! Browning the butter ahead of time then sticking it in the freezer makes the perfect room-temp butter for creaming. I won a cookie contest for Father's Day at my church with brown butter chocolate chip toffee cookies! The toffee bits were homemade; I also sprinkled sea salt on top just after baking, they were perfect!

This cake recipe came from a card in my great-great-great-grandmother’s recipe box from around 1900. It only listed the ingredients; no instructions. I frosted it with a salted caramel frosting, and it came out delicious!
