Ended Official BYC 2023 Summer Fair Contest—Equine Show Ring

What a naughty boy! What's an IEA show?
IEA stands for Interscholastic Equestrian Association. It's a US national association for youths(and, for the first time this year in some places, adults!). Each person may show in a maximum of six shows per season. There's some western classes, then dressage and hunt seat. My team does horsemanship. You gain points as you place, and you show against the different people in your "zone". There are 8 zones, I think. Each zone contains a state or two, and within the zones are dozens of individual teams. There are a few different levels of showing, and if you gain enough points at your level, you are allowed to show against your "region". Your team can also compete as a team and have its members compete individually, it just has to do with point accumulation. Each region contains several zones and states. If you place first or second at Regionals, you have a big chance at Nationals, judge's pick.
I was able to go to regionals this year and placed third, it was all a great experience.
The big kick of it all is that to show, you just bring yourself. Riders are assigned horses at random(the horse providers cycle through the zone teams), and it is luck of the draw. You could get a clean, well-finished beauty of a horse, or a stubborn lazy thing that doesn't care to lift a hoof(or a spunk like Duke!). You mount the horse right before your class, then you go straight in. No warm up, no getting used to the horse, there's barely time to say hi.
It's really a lot of fun, a bit expensive though, and a lot of sitting.

this is Tesoro Mio (my treasure) he is a almost 3 month old foal and hes the best thing that ever happened to us, both of his parents are black and have no signs of chestnut in their families! we were really surprised of him lol! already from the start he was bigger then the others and very affectionate! he loves to jump (as he has jumped a hedge for god knows how many times:rolleyes:) even though he is bred to be a dressage horse…
we still love him dearly tho
