I don't know how others feel about it but for me the whole point of writting an article is to have it read.
I'm not interested in the prizes; I give what I win away anyway.
What I am interested in is having the article featured on the home page and this doesn't seem to be happening with any of the winning articles.
Why is this?

Thank you for posting this! We LOVE when our amazing community members want to share their knowledge with others for the intent of educating and helping others. That's EXACTLY what our community (and these contests) are about!

I completely agree that we should be featuring all of these articles on the homepage and also sometimes in our newsletters (as well as promoted on Facebook, etc.).

We'll go through and review which of the highly-rated articles should be featured, but haven't. Then we'll get them scheduled to get the promotions they deserve!

Ive got the writing skills but I am a new chicken parent. If someone would like to partner with me, I am open to the learning experience. I am open to writing about chickens or ducks. Tag me in a reply or message me.

Another thing is over the years I've accumulated rather a lot of studies/papers on various topics related to chickens. Some available on the net, some only in PDF format and some from papers published on university websites. I would like to put these studies in an article and make the PDF papers downloadable from BYC. Can this be done and can I enter the collection as an article in these competition?

Hmm... that's a good question. I'm not sure at what point something like that can be distributed, hosted on BYC, etc., without direct permission and/or creating copyright issues (which we're very sensitive about).

Yup, links to whitepapers, etc., where relevant would be totally fine.

Yes, you can edit and update any article from what I understand.

BYC retains full license of articles submitted.

What does this mean in more specific terms? Is it a license to use it in promotional material or does it refer to ownership?
