Wow! I've never seen molting like that! Maybe because I live in Southern Ca. Does it depend on the chicken or where you live? Mine just lose a few feathers.

Mine are just finishing up their molts...they usually start in mid-August...I'll have to get some pics if/when it ever stops pouring rain!

This is Angel's first molt last week. The feathers were dropping as she was standing on my counter!!! (on her feet). Poor girl.

My girls are molting now, but so far nothing like this, I'll keep my camera ready just in case.

This is Star a Cornish and her first molt. She actually looks pretty good in the picture we didn't catch her at her worst.
