She's not scraggly by most standards, but as a Bielefelder owner, I can tell that she's lost about... half of her fluff there.

Here's my roo after moulting for about a week

Fine, looks a bit lean, like he's a cockerel, right? Nuh huh. Half the bird is GONE. He is usually a whole SLAB of beefcake.

Not an entry, since this is a broody patch, but Jolene lost her whole mind when she had chicks. She didn't stop plucking just from her belly, she went ALL the way around her sides and BACK. Her head is bare from standing her ground against larger girls that wanted her nesting spot.

My girl Cinder has finally started molting this year, and, hoo boy. But she did win last year, which is why I'm asking.

I love this description for roosters; I'm stealing it! I already get a bunch of flack from a couple of my friends for often using the word "sexy" as a descriptor for my birds, so I might as well double down.

Okay! This weird, scraggly thing used to be an Easter Egger hen named Cinder. I'm not sure when the metamorphosis happened - it's like a couple days ago I had a hen, but yesterday I looked out and it's like Cronenberg had visited the coop. Unlike my other bad molter this year, though, Cinder gets sweeter instead of crankier, and she seeks out other chickens to snuggle against.
