Ended Official BYC Contest - Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2014

Yesterday was two weeks since Coco started molting. I wanted to post follow up photos because she's growing in feathers soooo fast. She started molting Wednesday morning and by Saturday, she was pretty much naked.

Today, you can barely see any bare skin. The feathers on her bottom still need to open up so you can see some skin there. It's amazing that they can transform themselves so quickly.

And more important than her feathers, is that her personality is back. She is back to talking and scratching and I'm most pleased to have my sweet bird coming back around.

This is awesome! Best thread yet. Here's one of mine, Chatty Kathy's Friend a danish leghorn...

So, although Im pretty sure there are way more impressive molts being posted, I'll enter anyways! Lol! Pic was taken about 3 weeks ago, and enter in the "all other breeds" category. Happy molting season, y'all!

Here's Coco 3 weeks to the day since she started to molt. She no longer has any bare skin showing. Even her bottom is fluffy. She is no longer shivering either. She's actually cool to the touch so I know those feathers are starting to hold in the heat even though they are far from being fully opened.

That was one brutal molt to watch. But it's nice to see how fast it goes. Love that she's finally getting a tail back too.

Poor Pretty Girl (other breeds) is looking pretty sad. She is covered with pin feathers all over her neck, belly, legs, and wings- in the last day though, the feathers are ever so slightly starting to open up, I will be happy for her when that happens. She seems pretty uncomfortable and generally just wants to be left alone. I am encouraged to hear that some of these other hard molters seem to be feathering out pretty quickly though. It's cold here!

Every time I point the camera her way she hides, so these pictures aren't great quality.

Here my poor girl, Hawk. Only three days into her molt and she looks like the dog got to her. She's feeling pretty miserable too and doesn't want to be touched.

She doesn't really hold a candle to most of these photos, but I'm entering her in all other breeds anyway.
