Ended Official BYC DIY Contest #1 - Show us Your Project and Win!

Ooooo. Can hardly wait. I'm one of those guys that see something then gotta tweak.
Oooooo. Excited.
Isn't raising chickens awesome? I love chicken people. I think we're so cool.

Gee, I hope people don't think I'm a loser with "big head"!
Oh well, I'm a nerd. Love it

I love seeing an idea or project get better and better with other people's input.. you're in good 'nerd' company here ;)

I'm especially interested in a heated water dispenser to put in my coop for this winter. Last winter I made a LOT of trips to my coop, constantly brought in the water dishes and de-iced them, put hot rocks in them (heated near our wood-burning stove) to keep the water warm longer. It was a brutal winter last year and I want something electrified to keep the water from freezing daily.

I know this is pretty late, and it's not a dispenser per say.. BUT.. I use an old crock pot set on low to keep water from freezing in my free standing coop (one inside the barn stays cozy from the horses body heat)..but just in case you haven't found a solution yet ..just wanted to share

Remember everyone, you must create a "members page" here on BYC to be eligible for this contest. :)

Okay, I'm not sure where this "invention" falls. It's not really an invention in the truest sense of the word, but it is something that I saw done before and I decided it was time to break it down into digestible parts and share it. And it has been the subject of a full thread, so it's not as if it hasn't been seen on BYC before. So if, as it ends up, it's not eligible for the contest, that's just fine. I just wanted to share it because I believe so strongly in it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/brooding-with-mama-heating-pad Edited to add video. The video starts out dark. Do not adjust your computer monitor. ;)
I've done this for years and always recommend it to anyone with babies..I even sent a wire frame and heating pad with my last babies I sold bc the girl was using a heat light and I dint want them having to use a light after a week with the heating pad mama..works just as good if not better than the Brinsea one and just have to wipe the pad down with some bleach water in between sets of babies ♡♡
