A Cinderella story….
Sunny, the little D’Uccle pullet is the very lowest in the pecking order, and so was always all alone, off by herself, never allowed to join in any of the chicken activities.
A month ago, we brought in Carl, the Cochin cockerel. While some of the ladies initially chased him away, Sunny immediately recognized a kindred feather-footed friend. They have become inseparable, never apart, and even at night they are always snuggled close together on the roost.

I made these little wooden cut-outs of the happy couple...craft paint on pine....
