I thought so, takes a lot of patience to do that quality of carving - guess that's why you don't see me enter those contests ;)

Hey, branch out...Dare to be Different and try a medium you have never done --- knit, crochet, sew???  Or modeling in clay - that would be easier than carving??

Ha! I'd have to take crochet classes before I could make something worthy of entering! And that would take a lot longer than five weeks! I'm thinking along the lines of recycled art. Who am I kidding?? I'll never get around to that! But I might. But I probably won't. I technically know how to sew, but my skill level is at about zero and a half.....I have some modeling clay....I'm not very good with it, but I might mess around with it for a minute. Ya know, just long enough to remind myself that I am not artistic and why in the word did I even pull the clay off the shelf? Idunno. I'll probably think of something. I could steal my brothers wood burning kit...thought it is technically not his anymore because our mom took it away cuz he would not stop trying to flesh burn on his sisters..

I may just enter Kendra's. I told her to make a chicken. Darned if she didn't!!

Enter it or just post a pic, would love to see her creation :)

Ouch! If I were the mom, I probably would have thrown it away.

Simple crochet is not difficult - but reading those complex directions is difficult - that's why I rarely crochet

Complex quilts like Blooie's are also very challenging.

Wood burning... be careful and don't burn yourself or anyone else

Well she did not throw it away because it was brand new and we had just given it to him for his birthday. And yes, it hurt, I still have a scar and its a good thing it was not on full heat, or it probably would have burned a hole straight through my arm...our mom said he might be lucky to get it back by the time he is 13. IMO that is even worse. Teenage boys are very destructive....

I can do a single stitch with crochet, but nothing complex. I might try my hand at wood burning and see if I come up with anything...in a field far away from people so if I burn anyone, it is myself. Lol. Yeah, no way I'll be doing anything like blooies in the next 25 years! :lau

Quote: Same here. I'm in awe of the beautiful, artistic things people make or have made. Just amazing!
Even the practical garden knowledge...wow! I love the plants in the eggshells on the other thread.
So very simple and practical!
I made a straight scarf once when I was a young kid. That's about it.

(but you know...I am still wearing it) Lol!!

I crocheted a trio of bean filled chickens last year as a gift for a family member, but sadly I don't have any pics. Otherwise I would enter them

Oh, would love to see them and they would be a great entry...if they still have them, see if they could send you pics to post??
