I also chose other because there is more than one reason. Most of my birds live out a natural life. I cull if there is sickness or injury that is not survivable and the bird is suffering. I also cull extra roosters since I don't have an entire dedicated space to keep bachelors. I keep as many as I reasonably can without beating up the hens, but some have to go. They are chosen for keeping based mostly on temperament and personality, looks is way down on my list. The nasty ones always go first. I have kept some special needs birds, just depends on the quality of life and if they suffer or not.

I haven't had too. If they get sick or whatever they either get better or die within A few days normally, but I try my best to see what it is and treat it. As far as age goes I usually just sell my older birds to make room for new ones, but if I really like them I just keep them for their whole life.

I know how this sounds but I would recommend you have plan for despatching of a hen. It’s terrible when it happens and generally unexpected. With your head in La La Land and your eyes streaming you will struggle to work out what to do.

My head isn't in "la la land" and I would put one down if it was absolutely necessary, but so far I haven't had to. I prefer to let nature take its course and they die naturally when it is their time. They do not suffer

I’m so sorry I meant no disrespect 😢

I meant simply than when a girl is suffering it is my opinion that it is a good idea to have a plan, I haven’t set one until recently and struggled because my head was all over the place with emotion.
So sorry if I have caused upset or anger it was never my intention 🙏
