Nah. TRUE Chicken Math is when you "might add three more when you get a broody, but she only hatches two ... so you go to the feed store to buy their minimum - that's three to four, plus that really cute one with the black spot ... oh and the pretty splotchy one with the feathered feet!

We currently have 18, 3 roosters and 15 hens. One of our oldest girls died last month so if Pippin goes broody again this year, we will probably add a few more. We have a few girls that I would love to have chicks from before they become too old

Same, I'd love to hatch some of Ginkgo's eggs but in order to do that I need to get a rooster lol

I started with six in April 2019. I got as high as 80, but have 64 right now. I've already ordered 10 new production layers (my first time doing this) because I started selling eggs at a farmer's market last year. I also have 6 more of my "pet" chickens.

If I had chickens when I was younger, I might had many different chicken breed, but my chicken journey started late so this is all I left with now and it is scaling down...

Originally planned to have more orps/F2s, but a poor chicken egg hatching & WILDLY successful turkey egg hatch conspired otherwise. So add 7 midget white turkeys to that count for a LOUD yard.

There is always and always a logical reason to add more...always forever more and more ....like I started with 6 and I thought I have 14, but it turned out I have 17...where those 3 extra are from, how come I never notice them?
