6x 3 week old chicks. Gallea is a gold sex link, Gremlin is a brown leghorn, Isaiah is a New Hampshire red, and Percy, Leticia & Narcessa are all crested. All 6 are females. Today is their 3 week birthday.

restarting our flock after a move. right now have 6 chickteens (my term for younuns, but not chicks), 24 in the bator, should hatch this weekend! and 12 more eggs coming for the bator in about a week!!! Definitely will sell some of the roos off, if I can tell which is which!!! French Copper Marans hatching this weekend, Wheaton Ameraucanas in about 4 weeks. Any suggestions on sexing? What's the feather thing?

The "feather thing" usually works best for Silkies. I really don't know the name for the practice and I just call it "wing sexing" because you look at the wings. If the feathers are uneven, you've got a girl. If they are even, sorry, you've got a roo!

I answered what I ordered 24. 15 are meat birds. And as I don't have yet I don't know what number will survive. I am thinking positive

I think about 135 total, but 90 or so are meat birds, 17 americana hens, one ameicana roo, a pair of silver phoenix, 2 partridge silkie hens, one's broody right now, one each of a BR, SLW, LF barred cochin hen and roo, and a red sexlink, I like to call "granny hen" she's old and frizzled but I love her. OH I forgot I just got a dozen 4 week old americana pullets from a neighbor!! Wow chicken math does add up fast!! The meat birds have aboout 3 weeks to go till processing.

There's a big farm animal swap this weekend in Troy Ohio, its my favorite event... every kind of bird you can imagine! who knows what I'll come home with, my husband dreads this swap! it usually ends up with him building onto something!!
