It's not a pleasant part of keeping chickens, but it's one we must all deal with regardless: poop. How often do you clean your coop out? Don't include pens in your answer, just your coop or coops. Do you find it easy or difficult to clean them out? What changes to your coop design or technique would you make to improve the process?

you should use medium grit washed construction sand here is a channel that supports this https://www.youtube.com/@TheChickenFix/shorts

Suerly noone is cleaning the whole coop every single day? The amount of bedding you would go through!
Yes, I clean the whole coop every day. That's why I have sand, no bedding to stir, flip over or through or remove ever. And it only takes 10 -15 minutes to clean a 12x14 coop. The run? That's deep bedding except for right under the roost, and its a nightmare to keep clean. Both sides permanently open so girls like to sleep in there too. Can't walk in there without stepping on something cuz you can't see it with all that bedding, yuck. My bedding in the run is all free leaves, grass, shredded paper, etc. so I don't mind the 1/2 bucket of bedding I remove there weekly for the compost pile. Could be worse! The 13 year old chicken I have living in the house has to be fed and cleaned hourly!

Same. I use sand, and it is so easy to maintain and keep dry. I clean daily raking and sifting. Weekly I use a sifting type shovel and get a deep clean on the entire coop for anything that might have been missed on the daily clean.

No smell. Clean. Dry. Much more hygenic.
