I'm having a hard time figuring out if it's the dogs or the neighbors. When something is gone, it was the neighbor on one side, or the dog of the neighbor on the other!

Wow, that was a big Coyote! And I have to agree with you on the nice pelt, it had a pretty color to it too with the orange in it and all.

I voted raccoon but I've also had plenty of trouble with weasels/mink-couldn't figure out which it was, they killed just for the fun of it it seemed like because no one was ever eaten, just murdered by a biting head/neck injury at night in their coop.

My biggest problems have been with coyotes. Last fall in just one night I lost 4 chickens, 2 white-crested ducks, and my female bronze turkey. They had a feast. There were very few feathers and the only thing left behind was most of the turkey carcass.

I would have to say my worst was my neighbors dog cause he would kill several in a day sometimes, also lost chickens to a coopers hawk, redtail hawk, raccoon, and a mink. These are all the predators that I have actually seen take a chicken or caught the predator in a animal trap and once problem was solved didn't lose anymore chickens.

Dogs!! I love dogs, but some neighbors can be quite negligent with their dogs. The only chickens we have ever lost was to dogs. I'll admit we lost two chickens to our own dogs, but we learned from our mistakes; our neighbors didn't care. Their dogs wiped out the whole lot of our first batch of chickens. Our family definitely learned that "good fences make good neighbors." We are also glad we were able to move away from those neighbors.
