As of today, the hawks have pulled into the lead at my house. They're up to three kills in two years (last two in a month apart), lost two to fox last spring, two to coyote 4 years ago. Fox is the only one bold enough to stick around to get a shot at. The hawks fly away when they hear the car door. A terrible way to come home from work:(

actually I feed all the feral cats I can! they may not be able to bring down an adult weazel BUT they will kill babies and deter other predators...and if they are well fed they won't and never do bother my "girls"...my best cat however...unfortunately disappeared ...she was a house pet that loved the outdoors! couldn't keep her in...she even killed a full grown squirrel! and left it for my inspection. so I am really upset that she is gone...she was an awesome! hunter...as for hawks first sign of those out comes the shot guy...legal or not! they are dead.

Wish the hawks would stick around long enough to get a bead on them. The gun is always at the ready by the back door, but as soon as they see any movement from the house, they're off! We've never witnessed the strike, just their departure. They barely make a snack sometimes, and have never carried anyone away, which surprises me. Our red tails are like winged basketballs, like Buff Orpington raptors on steroids! Just huge!!

I voted a long time back for hawks after one killed two of my ducks. I wish I could vote again because I just lost one drake to a great horned owl and the owl injured 2 of my hens.

I'm with the general opinion that coons are the worst. I ran a nuisance animal control business for 7 years and 80% of chicken predation calls were coon related ! They are so smart, crafty and determined critters ! If they had opposing thumbs, we humans would be in trouble !
As for my own experience, hawks are on my *hit list ! One nailed my favorite Silver Duckwing roo at a cabin I had here. Buster was such a sweet lil guy, loved to watch TV and eat popcorn with me, would practically fetch my slippers ! All I found of him was a circle bomb of feathers

.
Next day I watched as the the redtail came back cruisin for more. I bought 2 rolls of monofiliment and had so much strung from tree to tree it looked like a bunch of drunks had been fishin in my yard ! But it worked, didn't lose another bird to hawks.....

If they can make the Solar Nite Eyes with a daytime motion detecting laser beam that will blast anything flying into my yard larger than a crow, I'm in! Wouldn't even be a question of price!!
