Lost 1 original rooster to a fox.. found blood in the snow and no body found, but he did give a good fight. 1 rooster to a raccoon (all the ladies were safe because he was a bomb rooster), and most hens lost to hawks... I've never lost a chicken to a dog. I would lose my mind. All 4 of my dogs are hunting or bird dogs by breeding.. so point is you can train them against their instinct. :D AKA you can have any bird except these! Lol

I would lose my mind if I lost any chickens to dogs. Im sorry to hear you lost so many and to just 1 dog! My neighbors dogs do not leave their own yard, due to my dogs would most definitely not find that acceptable. My dogs are a Weimaraner, a Lab/Shepherd/Weimaraner mix, a Pitbull and a Miniature Dachshund. All, but 1 are of hunting breeds and they would never touch a chicken because they know definitely do not I find that unacceptable haha. My old PBR even went after them a few times and the dogs always just looked at me lol. All very good boys.

I've only had confirmed losses due to dogs, but we've suspected hawks and opossums in other attacks. Lots of losses to dogs though. German Shepherd mix, Rottweiler, Great Dane/Boxer mix, and pit bull attacks. We've also lost numerous birds (mostly young chickd, turkey poults and ducklings) to a psychotic neighbor child over a period of a few months last year.
