i haven't seen where anyone mentioned crows.. am i the only one who has lost chickens to crows? Crows and dogs have been my worst predator. i did have a fox chase my chickens across the yard...( i chased him screaming like a madwoman lol) i haven't seen him since that day. and a hawk attacked one of my hens today. don't know how bad the damage is yet... she is hiding under the house and i can't get to her.

The crows are our friends, they warn of hawks in the area.

I've never seen them take an interest in the chickens at all, and the run is topped with HW cloth, so they can't get in and steal food.

We've seen one lost to and eagle and one to a dog and two others which we think hawks got. We do have some VERY determined eagles in our area, however - I've had the eagles perch in the trees right above me as I frantically round up ducks and chickens -as if to say "get out of my way so I can get my lunch!"

My dog killed two of mine outside this spring, in spite of introducing them to the dog as new pets in the house when they were little peepers. Instinct won out over my attempts. It was a mistake on my part when I didn't shut the coop door after me. Since then we made a double fences, so never the dog and chickens shall meet again.

Yesterday, I had a hawk swoop down on one of the girls. It happened so fast! Luckily, she ran away from it.

I have lost chickens and ducks to cats, raccoons, opossums, dogs, the mail truck, snakes, minks and owls. I believe raccoons probably killed the most, but I voted for coyotes, because when the coons came, we just needed to trap them and kill them. The coyotes were hard to catch and kill. My husband had a vendeta going with it. He started getting up at 3:00am to wait for it, until he finally got it. It would eat chicken for breakfast every other morning.

Lost over 25 chickens last year to Racoons!!! Oooooo!!! I hate those things!!
