I'm good with lower tech and safe options myself. And it's wonderful that there's a local poultry processing plant here! Avoiding the mess is also a plus for me.

We try to buy all girls but some times we'll risk it. We've had about 4 or five roosters in the past.
We have had 1 nice boy.The other 4 we killed because they started attacking my family.

I give mine to a very nice Polish lady who knows what she's doing as far as butchering. It's a win-win for all except the rooster

I made plans to give my roosters to a coworker as meat birds. Thats now my back up plan, with finding them pet homes being the main goal. Here most people just chuck them into the woods.

I (luckily) have not had to deal with a rooster yet. But, I did recently buy unsexed chicks so, though I think they are all girls, I have made a plan in case I end up with a rooster. Since I can't keep him, I will first try selling him to someone who I know would take care of him. If that doesn't work, then I will give him away to a good home. If that doesn't work, then I will give him to a farm sanctuary not far away from me.
I could never slaughter a chicken I have raised, nor would I want him slaughtered by anyone else, so the top priority would be to give him to a place where he would be able to live a long and happy life.

I only have one very accidental rooster that I didn’t want to cull and giving him away might not work due to aggressive behavior and not suitable for breeding due to crop disorder. He has his bachelor pad using a TSC coop I used when I was a newbie. It is inside the main run so he’s still close enough to the ladies to see and talk to Them.

I did not know about this. I may have to look into that as an option, should that day come

I decide if I want to replace any roos and if not, I sell him.
