I LOVE ROOSTERS!!!! :wee They're the best!! I love how they crow!! I love their crows so much that I crow too!!! Then they crow back! They're just wonderful creatures! Sadly on the hens side, I love roosters more than hens. I love them sooo much!!! Sadly I currently don't have enough hens right now to own a rooster, so I currently don't have a rooster. :hit:hit I crow for my hens, but they've never seen a rooster crow before, so they're confused. I have been able to communicate with my hens by using a rooster's alert call to warm them of danger (and what type of danger it is), and they've understood me and acted accordingly to my warning. I miss owning roosters. :hit:hit
I love my roo!!!! Why don’t you try a Bachelor flock? I didn’t even know that was a thing until after I had hens, but it sounds fun!!

I got my roo by accident and I am so glad it happened! He is the best!! I don’t think I am his favorite person but I just love all the personality he brings. He keeps a watchful eye out for the girls and even comes looking to see if I am ok too. He’s just doing what instinct tells him to do.

I would like to, but I don't think that my parents would approve... Maybe someday though! :D

For breeding but I do have a few more ( 10? :idunno ) than needed. They're so beautiful and the hens love their roosters. I choose gentle roos; the ones that beat up my hens are sold regardless of how beautiful or correct they may be. I've several roos I could stare at for hours and a couple I've kept even though they don't like me (but they like their hens). I've been toying around and reading about rooster colonies. I might one day set up a rooster colony in the back for all the roos I love. Why in the back? Cause one thing I could do with less of is the crowing.

If I get chicks, I always want them straight run because the cockerels are such a big part of my chicken keeping! We keep one or two and eat a few of each batch. We also enjoy hatching chicks - so they come in handy that way too!

My boys that I'm not using for flock protection or breeding (or eating!) live in their bachelor pad and do very well together - although they definitely have a pecking order like the girls do, and every now and then you have to make adjustments if someone is getting harassed.
