My girls have the main coop where they occasionally lay eggs and roost at night. It has an attached run with a roof. Plus, they have a small coop for isolation, quarantine, broody breaking and also egg laying. It's the current favorite for egg laying. It has it's own run under the coop. They also have their clubhouse. It's a corner structure of sorts that consists of a couple of pieces of vinyl fencing with a plastic roof attached to the 6 ft privacy fence . They have food and water in the clubhouse and the run. They do a lot of dust bathing in there and hiding out from the rain and snow. All of that is enclosed in a large fenced in area of the yard for them. My coop wouldn't win any prizes, but it serves the purpose and was fun to find all kinds of free stuff on craigslist for adding onto it.

We built a Hen Pen from leftover lumber and bought more as it turned into a secure enclosure. No free range with neighborhood cats...closed up in a secured coop overnight. She’d for food and misc on other side.

We built it out of lumber & roofing from our 1968 trailer we did a demo On to make room for a house .......bought hardware cloth on amazon & painted it black , kinda makes it “disappear”

we have a hen house with two enclosed runs. Each run has different bedding for them. Some like the sand/peat mix and some like the sand/dirt. We also have a “playpen” on wheels and we roll them around the yard. At night they go single file from playpen back into their coop. It’s a sight to behold

We have a large lot in town and we have to keep them enclosed. But we built this coop/run to match our old 1900s house. And we give them plenty of fresh yard clippings.

Ok, here goes. I built a 4x12 coop with auto door that lets out to the area underneath as well as an additional 4 feet. I have a second auto door that leads into 8x40 run with poultry netting roof and a couple 10 foot tarps for weather protection. Of course, being 6’2”, I made the roof six feet high! There’s a tunnel at the far end leading into a repurposed duck house I made. They chill and sometimes scatter there due to predator alerts. Various roosts and activity center to occupy them. Hardware cloth frame to protect plantings where they can access top of new growth when it’s y’all enough. Then I built an additional 8x16 run attached via an enclosed overpass. Free range a couple of hours prior to sunset. I have a small coop separated that I can use for time outs, grow outs and other such things. The buildings follow the chicken math rule - wanted 10 chickens and got 28! Some were broilers and some gifted to friends. Down to 16 hens and two roosters. Oh, plus two hatchlings. Retiring next month, so ...?

My husband and I built our coop. It has turned out to be one of the most favorite things we have ever done together. The girls are totally spoiled and have a home for life. Every evening just about and some times during the day too, I go down and sit with them on their covered porch. They impatiently take turns sitting on my lap to visit. People just don’t understand how sweet chickens are when you raise them from chicks.
