a very practical and pragmatic approach to the problem of "excess" Roos. Good eats!Had to change my vote from other to including my own. It was true and correct at the time that the flock was not for meat and still aren't. Since then there has been a hatch. Some of those are going to be on the table.
When you have a few, you learn personalities. When you have a flock of them, harvesting the flock can be easy. You still learn some but the flock gets processed.I still eat chicken however I get too attached too quickly to think about eating my layers. If I were going to raise chickens for meat, I'd probably keep them separate and not spend as much time with them as I do now and definitely NOT name them - lol.
