Just to share this pic.
My biggest chick (1 month old) has figured out how to get to the perches on the poo plate.

We wanted a removable roost for easier cleaning and made this one.
The idea was that if we get bantams or silkies in the future, the smaller lower bars (that are the bottom edge) would be good for them.
Currently we have full size gals and all 5 roost on the top bar. View attachment 2698202View attachment 2698203View attachment 2698204
Most bantams like to perch high too. They only need/like smaller perches because their feet are smaller.
P.s. clever system and beautifully made.

1”x6”,18” high as is suggested here. They have two long ones.A shorter roost for day is popular,7” high.
Nests are 15” high, they don’t roost on them.
several other coops have movable 1”x6” roosts ,for heavier birds, saves their hips.2 hens in each only.Nests are slightly elevated,in a corner.Perfect for almost no pecking, just 2 good friends In each.
I only have 10 total.

We use 2x2 with slightly rounded edges. I can lift them out if/when I ever need to clean them. The girls seem very comfy on them.
