My neighbors chickens come over and play with my chickens and come here first thing in morning to time to bed and they bath wherever and whenever they want almost made a small stock pond for my ducks to play in

I used to have a big flower pot filled with sand in the coop/run combi to keep the sand clean and dry. But after attaching an old window under an angle on the outside they prefer that spot.
Every 2-4 months I add some sand with a little diatomaceous earth. Its a great combination to prevent parasites.

At the moment, my tiniest babies are shunning the bowl of dirt I thoughtfully provided, in favor of bathing in their soon-to-be replaced open food dish. Lol. My older hens have a "chicken spa" of gorgeous dark earth, underneath the coop. ♥️

Mine have a large covered area of native soil, to which I add cold bonfire ash periodically; and a lidded plastic box with a mix of sand, ash, and a little DE; and they make their own craters wherever they like. Mass bathing is popular here
