I’ve had to deal with worms and mites so much almost every few months.

There are several diseases and health conditions that chickens commonly suffer from. Chickens can suffer from severe health problems for days or even weeks on end without being detected, whereas others may die within hours of being afflicted. So we would like to know: Which of these health problems has affected your flock?

In addition to bumblefoot, I've had flystrike, possible ascites, and frostbite.

Lice have been so not fun :/ they’ve had it twice in the last few months, coop cleaning and permethrin spray are my best fiends! Also the rooster I took from a lady who had too many last year has respiratory issues that I can’t seem to make go away, he’s had antibiotics once or twice. I just keep an eye on him. Some VetRX seemed to really help. I know it’s not really the right solution but it helped so I’ll take it! But other than that the flock is healthy and thriving!

I hit several options including “other.” I’ve had several bouts of brief respiratory issues, including facial swelling, which have all resolved quickly and on their own. Never had a chicken die from it so never had a necropsy to confirm. I do not believe it’s been coryza or MG.

My birds have been healthy overall. I vaccinate all of my birds against Marek’s disease. I started vaccinating them for fowl pox this year as well. Had a horrible case of fowl pox in a started pullet that I bought from a local breeder. Luckily none of my other birds got it. Another reason to quarantine! She is also the one that has bumble foot that she is recovering from, I had never seen this before. I have dealt with mites fairly routinely and have to spray with permethrin and do a total coop clean out every 3 to 4 months to keep this in check.

My whole flock caught some kind of respiratory infection from my silkie rooster who came from a different farm than the other 6. The symptoms manifested themselves as an extremely swollen eye in one hen, a bubble eye in said silkie rooster, sneezing and head shaking in the whole flock but also severe mucus buildup in the respiratory tract of my silkie hen which was one of the causes of her death (she was already weakened from the coccidiosis she had). At the beginning of her coccidiosis she also had a slightly impacted crop which I loosened up with some olive oil and crop massages. We also seemed to have mites at the same time as my silkie hen’s sickness began so we treated with permethrin spray.
