Official Christmas Hatch! c'mon and join

Oh no Kathy! I am so sorry. I was so relieved when Humpty Dumpty hatched after I dropped the egg and cracked it then smashed through it with my fingernail. Forgive yourself and move on. Hugs.

Here are my Christmas Chicks. The small ones are silkie/aracuna/onagadori mixes and one is OEGB/onagadori mix. The two big one that look completely different came from the same Production Red hen and was fertilized by the same Onagadori that fathered the rest. Amazing how much one of them looks just like an Onagadori Chick, But it is mixed.

I think I got them all in this pic. There are 8 total.

This is the PR/Onagadori mix that looks like an Onagadori chick. But remember, it's mixed. It is much larger than an Onagadori

The 2 PR mixes hatched out very fat. The eggs where jumbo sized. The mother which is a PR eats like a goat, no wonder the chicks are so big and healthy.

I have more eggs but don't expect them to hatch. Only 1 was peeping but didn't pip yet anyway. They are a day late now.

sangel4you, wow! What a feat! Congrats!

I had 5 hatch yesterday on day 19 or 20. I'm confused on how the 21 days are counted. Anyway, I think I know why they were early. My husband collected eggs for me when I was at work the day before I set eggs. He left them on the counter for me and I didn't bother to put them in in the cool place where I had placed the others. My house can get pretty warm sometimes when the sun is shining. I betcha that caused them to be early. All of them are from those he collected: 3 LF mixes and 2 Silkies.

This morning I woke up to one pip.

I woke up to 1 more chick....I think we're done now though. 2 silkies from the 24th didn't hatch (I noticed 1 pip yesterday, but no progress) and 2 others from yesterday, I'll probably give them another day or so.

Congrats on all the chickies!!!

Out of the 4 I had left in the bator, three hatched last eve/over night...however I woke to a dead one in the bator- one of the ones with the umbilical hernia and cord still attached :-( So I'm back down to 10 with one egg unpipped and unhatched. Brandi congrats on those hatching!!!

ETA: Just moved the other two hatched last night to the brooder, and they also both have the umbilical hernia :-( And I have to look better but I believe they have poo stuck to them as well. Oh what a sad day if I lose three more, hoping these two can be saved!!!
