OH!!!! YIKES!!! My husband would have to do that. I would get sick.. I was screaming when I opened the egg and it was alive... Oh man, that makes my stomach roll....

I haven't on my computer since Christmas Eve. I had 12 eggs in the bator and 7 hatched, another pipped and didn't make it, and another that hatched late. The late hatch came after the humidity began a down hill slide and by the time I realized the humidity was extremely low the chick was stuck. I went a head and helped it out knowing it would die anyways. So far it seems to be doing fine. I haven't had time to get pics but will post as soon as I do so.

I'm so excited! I went out to let the chickens out and momma was still on her nest. Normally, she gets off when I let them out in the morning to do all her stuff, but not today. I went to check on her and she was making little friendly peeping noises and such (she's a very friendly girl anyway) so I checked under her. She always lets me check the eggs and put them back. The one egg she has left was still whole and no pips, but when I was about to put it back, I heard PEEPS! then, I could feel it knocking at the shell. I'm so excited now

I put the egg back and left them alone but now I'm here sitting on my hands (not literally or I couldn't type

). Especially after yesterday, nothing could make me happier

I used my new kitchen scissors. I have never done this before but I had read a post a few months back. I did not let myself think it over. I knew it had to be done, so I went straight to the kitchen, grabbed the scissors, walked over to the trash and did it fast and deliberate without hesitating. I didn't even let my DH & DD know I was doing it. The babies are so tiny and fragile, that the physical part was easy. That is the fastest way I could think of to do it. The emotional part was heartbreaking.

I'm hoping to have a broody in the spring. I want to buy some hatching eggs and would rather have a broody hen than an incubator.
