Ya know, hubby walked by the empty brooderbox and said,"geez, that was fun. I can't wait to have more chickies!" I was happy because I didn't think he cared too much about em!

yes i will be getting more this weekend, eggs that is they ar ein middle of the incubation as we speak they are due to hatch on the 6th so practically all i have to do it go get them saturday then bring them hope and lock them up for lock down, but i might also grab another chick from her while i am up there just for a friend for this one. the person i get eggs from is a hatch a holic herself she seems to always have a broody hen or 2 or 3 then on top of that she has 2 table top/ styrofoam incubators and then she has a cabinet incubator, so im sure she will have a chick to go with this one i will make sure it is happy lol, thanks for the wishes

if i knew you had extra eggs i woulda asked for some lol, i dont need no more know i am set, i cant wait the best part is about the eggs im goign to get is that it comes from a backyard lock of close to 50 chickens so there will be some nice mixes, for some reason i like barnyard mixes then i do pure, you never know what your gonna get with coloring and all

I ended up with 9. I still had the bator running up till yesterday afternoon because I still had a couple pipping. Total hatched was 12, but I am left with 9 healthy babies. I opened all the others and they were completely developed but appeared to be shrink wrapped. What a learning experience. I still feel bad for those chicks that could not hatch. I already have ideas on how I will do things differently next time. Are all of your babies still doing good? I need to post a pic of mine. I have no idea what they might be since I bought them at auction. I will get a group shot when I get home tonight.

I finally loaded a FEW of the MANY pics I have...some very comical But these are the three I have loaded for now. My RIRx white leghorn

these are the two christmas babies...

this is the one DS named "quiet"

and then this is the whole lot of them. MY cute white/golden/spotted fluff butts Still have two with eye issues...not sure if they're actually blind or if they have a conjuntivie type thing, but I cant get to TSC to get some eye ointment until probably sat or monday so for now we're just cleaning them out with warm damp paper towels. Doesn't seem to bother them tho- just the cleaning does!

Also, they all seem to shy away from the heat lamp which is only at 88 where it is but I didn't bother upping it bc they all tend to like the cooler prts of the brooder. My first five leghorns were always about 5 degrees ahead of schedule too...I just thought it weird that at 5 days they're ok with temps of 88 and lower?!

They are sooo cute! I love the spots! Call me crazy but I am going to turn around and try it again as soon as I can. I am looking to get some nice eggs from some fellow BYCers next week. I'm gonna turn my LG into a forced air and see if that does a better job. Are you going to hatch another batch soon?
