Awwwww she's cute. Ok I am asking do you keep her for show, sell fertile eggs, or just cause she's sweet. Maybe both? MMM and the eggs are a bonus. I pickle my silkie eggs. YUM.

We got her by accident, didnt know a thing about chickens. Now she's our sweetie pie. She's a momma! She had a hawk by the back of the neck yesterday, she's one fierce little momma. But she still comes to us for a "pick me up" and cuddle. I'm glad Chloe was the chicken who came home with the kids that day. If it had been just, all "regular" chickens, I don't think we would have kept them. She's the great educator about all things chicken! silkies really are different. I guess like Chihuahuas are dogs, but different...... Or Siamese are cats, but different....

Anyhow, our chickens are just pets, who also give us eggs (sometimes). I have learned to compost with their poop and wood shavings, that's a bonus.

This is Blue and Snowy. They are a young pair I bought after reading this thread. I just LOVE them and even though they are just getting used to the other chickens and the surroundings, they both show interest in me more than the other new chickens that I put in with my bigger girls. I can't get over the turquois ears on Blue. They are like a jewel in all that white fuzz.

Sadly, I have 2 WS Roos and I'll be getting rid of both of them. They're ugly and I haven't had any purebred silkies or mutt silkies since I've had them. Plus they're super poor quality and just ugly!

Later on, when I get my breeding building I'll get some good quality silkies.

That's Yeta, my first Silkie. She's almost a year old now. I think she kinda looks like a Chinese dragon...the way she stands sometimes...other times she looks like she's wearing huge underpants!
