lol, ok don't worry about it, they are so cute any way! I think it is because they are so tiny, that is what makes them so cute!

Thanks for everything!

I am considering spending 75 cents a minute on Customer Service. There would be someone always answering the phone 24/7/365. We would have 6 agents dedicated and trained about Purely Poultry. I think it will make Purely Poultry better for the customer, for me, for everyone.

This is the company that I am considering using. http://www.northvc.com/ They have a $100.00 a month minimum and $500.00 setup fee. They are only working with 20 companies right now so the customer service would be personal!

I will still be taking as many calls personally as I can. My problem is there are too many calls that I miss. Any calls that I miss will be forwarded to the call team. If there is a customer that is looking for my help they will take a message or leave a voicemail for me. It would be instead of constantly most people that call going straight to voicemail. At least there will be a friendly voice on the phone, that is experienced with taking Purely Poultry calls 24-7-365. They will have access to an extensive FAQ and handbook on Purely Poultry (which is still being developed). I am also considering that I have a direct line phone number that I give on the contact us page or can give to some customers that only want to deal with me.

I just hate it that the customer goes straight to voicemail when I go to the bathroom, go for a walk, take a lunch break, have a vacation day, leave work for the night, am sick, have shortened hours in the off season. Then when I come back from something like that I have to choose between returning the missed calls, taking the new calls, or responding to emails. I want every customer taken care of immediately. One call resolution.

See I would love to hire someone to take calls. The only thing is I want someone 24-7-365.

Also right now I don't have a regular enough call volume that I could hire someone full time. And even just one person is not enough because there are many times that I have 5 calls come in while I am on the phone with one person. I want all 5 calls to be answered by a human voice right away. I think I would use a service like this even after I hire my first employee.

I really do want your opinion and feedback on this. I am stating my views so that I can get a lively discussion. You are helping me make the decision and see how this shapes up.

I also want to know, do you trust 1-800 numbers more? Are you more likely to call us if we have a 800 number? If you are more likely to call are you likely to talk longer? Do you think Purely Poultry needs a 800 number?

Hey, I know this is an old post...but I figured I would comment...I found another thread asking for advice on your web-site but it was closed :) then I found this one :) soooo.....My idea is for pictures of your costumers birds....If on each breed page you had an up-load button where your customers who bought that breed could post their picts of their birds when ever they wanted you would have tons of pictures of every breed with very little extra work for you, you may or may not want to be able to approve the pictures before allowing them to be posted...I raise European Ch. Blue Great Danes and 99% of my sales come from my web-site (and I always have a waiting list for my puppies and get many many compliments on my web-site) and I find that what people want when buying online is 1st to trust you and feel that you do all you can for your animals and 2nd is that you have way more than enough pictures of every animal...this also keeps people coming back to your site to see the up-dated pictures of the birds and gets them looking around and wanting more :) and 3rd is that you have tons of information on all of your stock...information is power, information on health issues, on feeding and caring for them... info on personalities of birds, on everything...this is another way to get people to come back to your site (who may not be specifically looking to buy chicks, but are researching them and looking for picts and information) and once they find you... who would have it all they will book mark you and when they are ready to buy they will come back to you :) raising the traffic on your site always helps to sell more babies :)
I love my chicks, ducks and geese from you and was very pleasantly surprised about their quality, and health and will be back for more!!!!

sorry, I forgot to menton... you should also have a note on the chickens that you are breeding yourself or that you are getting from an individual who is working on quality ( I do see that you have started on this)....I think you may have a niche here, because if you can help people with better quality birds but still have the convenience of a hatchery with selection, you will have something that sets you apart from others...esp if you allow people to post their picts of your birds...alot of us are wanting that....and the more birds of quality you have the better....I have seen alot of interest in better Flavorla's and barred rocks from hatcheries, as on their forms they say you cannot find even half good stock form hatcheries at all...just my 2 cents for what it is worth :) I want both of these breeds along with polish, sultans and barnevelders next year and I want them from you as I have been so happy with my other birds but I am still worried about the comment about any hatchery stock from the breeds mentioned....I will probably still be making my full order with you though as hatching eggs are a little scary to me and I would have to buy an incubator haha
thanks again :)

I was curious before I order I was wondering is it possible for me to pick up my chicks from the hatchery office? I live close by and my order most likely wouldnt be till Jan. or Feb. when its rather cold outside. Or do they still have to ship to the post office?
