Hi Tyler - I noticed that some hatcheries do not ship to Virginia, why is that?

BTW - I love your site and just read over your history page I the site! I admire your business sense!

not to answer a question not asked to me, but this is why

They have had a lot of trouble with avian influenza in that state according to their states Dept. of Agriculture website.
Thus, all poultry shipped in to Virginia must be Avian Influenza tested and clean, NPIP certified, and a A.I. Vet signed certificate, also several other things are required.
Phone # of all involved, the state resident must have a state permit to receive poultry, that number has to be on the box as well, just way too much paper work to justify the hatcheries time, most arent A.I. tested either.

All eggs, must be NPIP and AI clean, but the vet records arent required for them, state receivers permit is though I believe.

They arent the only state like this either, more and more of them are adopting the need for permits by the resident to receive poultry with similar other requirements, getting where as a shipper it's hard to keep up with, MT is another one similar to Virgina

Thank you BBB. I was curious about it because we live just a few miles from the VA state line and have property there also. We are going to be clearing some the land there and I was going to bring up some birds to work on bugs..mainly ticks since mosts of the wood there is pine.

It has been a little over 4 weeks now and they are still small, so what do you want me to do? This is my first time with these guys, maybe they take a bit to catch up?

Thanks again!
Tracy

I don't know if some ask this yet. but where do you get all your eggs to hatch? Do you ahve breeders all over the US? Or do you ahve the breeders yourself? I have always wondered about this .. I wish we had an hatchery down here. No many people in my area knows alot about chickens or poultry in that matter.
