Finally getting to the post I threatened to make a few days ago. Got my newly rebuilt computer up and running only to have our internet service crash for a couple of days.

Amy - Thank you for the Ground Cherry and Dame's Rocket seeds!
hugs.gif

The ground cherries actually grow wild on our land but I've yet to harvest any of the fruit so I'll add your seeds into my garden beds and hopefully get them before the wildlife does. I had Dame's Rocket on my wish list at a garden forum and will be growing them at the edge of our woods.

Carol - Thank you for the Calendula, 4 O Clock, Hollyhock, Nasturium and Scarlett Runner Bean seeds!

These will be added into my veggie, herb and butterfly/hummingbird gardens. I'd sown seeds for calendula and nasturtiums this year but this summer was cruel to all of my seedlings and what the heat didn't kill, the grasshoppers ate.

Clairabean - Thank you for the Marigold and Calendula seeds!

I love inter-planting my veggie plants with marigolds and tried growing calendula from seeds this year but our hot,dry summer pretty much got the best of all the seeds I'd planted. Couldn't keep anything I sowed in pots watered enough when our temps topped 105 F and stayed there.

Dena - Thank you for the Sunflower and Okra seeds!

I'm on a mission to grow most of my own sunflowers this coming gardening season as I'm tired of the price of BOSS continuing to rise. I've never grown okra before (unless you count a volunteer plant back in TN) so I'm excited about planting it next year. I love it battered and fried!

Kassaundra - Thank you for the Egyptian Walking Onion and Charentais Melon seeds!
hugs.gif

I had some walking onions many years ago and absolutely loved them! I'm excited about the melon seeds as hubby doesn't care for cantaloupe and these should be small enough to eat by myself (and sharing some with the chickens, of course!

Stephanie - Thank you for the Cilantro and Dragon Tongue Bean seeds!

Hubby loves using cilantro as a seasoning, I love using the coriander seeds for baking...especially in home made bread! I'm also excited about trying the bean seeds as everything I've read about them says that people who don't care for wax beans love these. I didn't like wax beans as a kid but my taste preferences have changed (for the better) over the years!

Wendy - Thank you for the African Daisy, Borage and Lettuce seeds!
hugs.gif

Not sure just where I'll plant the daisy seeds (probably up by the storage shed), the borage will be planted in my strawberry/asparagus bed and I'll be sowing the lettuce in a few days when I get my other fall/winter lettuce, radishes and carrots sown. They'll be in a pvc hoop cold frame so we can enjoy fresh salads all winter!

Also, special thanks for the "Chicken Salad" seeds for the birds. I'll probably sow these seeds in the beds by the chicken and guinea coops after I dig up the sweet potatoes!

I think I'll keep busy this fall/winter adding a few new raised beds to the yard!

Kassaundra, do you have planting info on the walking onions? I have been looking and I find all kinds of hints but they are all over the place as to how and when. I am in SoCal so we are looking to plant onion sets shortly

Thanks!!

For my area zone 7b, you plant them now till about mid Oct, they will be one of the first plants up early spring. They like well drained soil. They will head up and fall over around June/July, that is when you harvest the bulbils and replant in Oct or use.

clarabean, here are some pics of the okra flower, something to look forward to this coming summer. These are from my garden today.
