Officially-Who are the best layers?

my rir, jerseys and amerucauna lay every single day so far. i always get 4 eggs a day.
But my favorite is my rir when it comes to eggs. she lays the biggest eggs and they are always perfect and beautiful.

For the most efficient egg production, the commercial white Leghorn is hands down, the best egg layer. However, they are small, flighty, and have very little meat on their bones. They have been bred for decades to be the most efficient egg producers, with little emphasis on any other trait. So, if efficient egg production is your goal, get Leghorns. They lay large, white eggs, and do it on the least amount of feed.

Something else to consider, generally the more prolific layers burn out quicker. Lifetime egg laying figures would be more meaningful. A Buff Orpington might just lay 5 or 6 eggs a week, but will do so for several years. A 'hybrid' will burn out much sooner than that, often within a couple of years.

Hi-Line brown and Reds here are very popular in the UK. They are the most prolific layers. Nice friendly birds too I am told.

When I was researching which birds to get I was really keen to get some of them, but I went with a Black Rocks which lays slightly less between 280- 300 a year, mainly because the Black Rock is especially bred to be a Hardy Bird. They are bred in Scotland for free ranging.

I have not regretted my decision and have never had a day without eggs so far, and my girls are nice, friendly and fun.
