Oh Buster, here is my Black Orp Cockeral and some cousins.

Well, Congrats on the Auction win. Hope they hatch and you have some fine looking Orps.

BamaChicken, I've read reports from Orpington breeders in England who say that if you cross a blue O with a blue O, you'll get 1/4 DARK BLUE, 1/2 blue, and 1/4 splash; however, they say that the dark blue ones will be BLACK until after their first molt, then they are a very DARK BLUE from then on.
Are any of yours from a blue x blue breeding? If so, have any of your blacks from that breeding been through a molt yet?

Julie, your orps are gorgeous.

The one mottled egg that hatched for me is a pullet. She is black but her wing tips on the flight feathers are all tipped in white. I know at just over a month old that means nothing but I keep an eye on her and look for changes daily. LOL
