Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

Lots of hilarious stuff but this one is the worst. . .

And so terribly sadly true. People do it all the time. "Come buy our rare, exotic Barred Rocks!! They're STRIPED!!"

All the Auriaucanana ones are hilarious too, but gosh, blame hatcheries for those. If hatcheries could just call them Easter Eggers, not Americana/Araucana/Americauna/Auraocanas and so on, there wouldn't be such a HUGE jumble of letters to get confused with.

now these are not chicken related, but they are all from the same seller. I believe this person owns a second hand store.

you get the idea, I even tried to email him to correct his spelling a few times, which he did, then the next day it would read mispelled again. I give up

I think the funniest CL ad I ever read was one for a used car. It said it had been used for animal transport and smelled like pee and poo. Then it said that the last person that test drove it "threw up a little bit" due to the smell in the car. ..........So it also smelled a little bit like vomit. But cheap!!!! Not quite as funny, the way I write it, but I laughed for about 20 minutes.

Below is a direct copy-and-paste text from a local CL ad I found, advertising BCM chicks for $15-$30. I blotted out the phone number so as not to embarrass the person who posted it, in case they're here.

Really? $30 wholesale for an omelette?? Man, I've never met someone who is a wholesale omelette seller

Here's the ad:

We have had several chicks hatch from our French Black Copper Marans (Wade Jean) hen bred to our French Blue Copper Rooster from Julie Gabbards Farm. All chicks come from our darkest eggs.
They were born from Oct. 4 th to the 21st. They are 15 to 30 dollars. Most have feathered shanks. Please call and come see them ***-XXX-**XX. We occasionally sell eggs for incubating. More pictures coming soon. Some chicks in the second picture are Silkies and Jersey Giants along with blue and black Marans. All our Hattrick Silkie chickens and chicks are for sale too.

French Black Copper Marans in the U.S.

The Black Copper Marans is one of the rarest breeds of chicken in the United States. It is a fascinating breed of laying chicken; producing one of the darkest chocolate-brown eggs known. It is one of the rarest breeds in this country due to the import ban on fowl in the US. They are quite common in France.

Black Copper Marans eggs are prized by French chefs. They are also the favorite egg of James Bond. Using them for eating in the United States is almost unheard of, as they are so rare and prized. A three-egg omlet would cost more than $30; wholesale.

Oh oh oh, I met another well-intentioned (?) lady in the store one day who referred to the bantam breeds as "bandit chickens", too. I had pictures in my head of little chickens with a black mask that sneak into your house at night and steal your corn and will shoot you with their little pistoleros if you get in their way.
