Pitbulls have a bad rep, so maybe they didn't want to say pitbull for sale. They might be Staffordshire terriers, but I'm suspecting that these are some pretty pitties

That's very true, I hadn't thought of that. And also I think they're illegal in some counties. But the brown dog looks like some sort of mix?

I realize they have a bad reputation, but each dog is an individual & its training is what really matters. Strange that they would have a ban on an individual breed. We have a mutt with the best disposition & terrific with kids. He looks like he may have some pitbull (or bulldog or mastiff or boxer) genes.

Sadly, BSL (breed specific legislation) is veryyyyyy very common and many cities have bans on both pit bulls and sometimes other breeds. Also most housing and insurance companies won't take you if you have a pit bull or "dangerous dog breed". Often the list includes dobermans, German Shepherds, rottweilers, akitas, some places even ban huskies!

Hmmmm. Never thought about Shar pei.
The shelter thought pitbull & mastiff, but he maxed out at only 65 lbs. His head has a kind of square shape & his body is very solid / muscular with a wide stance. He bonded with our daughter instantly & slept right outside her bedroom door from day one. When our son was born, he positioned himself across both doorways. Our dog is 9 now & has cancer, but still acts like a puppy and lives life to the fullest.

I would guess mastiff and yellow lab though... sharpei crosses tend to inherit the dark mouth and tongue and a lot more wrinkles, lol...

I mostly just thought his head somewhat looked like one but lab mastiff is another very good guess, especially with as affectionate and family oriented as he seems to be. I forgot how wrinkly shar peis are ha

Who knows really.

Either way, he is gorgeous!
