I think a working incubator would be a pretty neat coffee table...the downside being the cord, noise, and your drinks getting warm lol.

The super hatcher is super cool! Boy those things would go quite nicely in my library to be lol. Our spare room downstairs I want to make it a library/office with books all over and hopefully a sofa or comfy chair. Etc etc. It will also have a rolltop desk in it.

Really though I can see those things in a house of someone who owns chickens like my house. Sadly the people who end up with them probably have no connection to chickens and just want a conversation piece.

We see many old wooden incubators for sale. Most of them claim to be in working order - but the price is always $300-700. I also think it would be cool to own an antique piece of furniture that could double as an incubator, but with those prices, I don't see it happening. I may build my own someday. I'm thinking of a sofa side table / incubator out of a repurposed cabinet.

Until then, we'll use my cooler / incubator. It sits ON TOP OF our sofa side table.


BTW- My sis got the Victorian sofa in the background when the abbey was throwing it out back in the 1980s. She fixed it up & about 20 years ago, gave it to us as a wedding gift. It's still our main sofa b/c DH is 6'5". Hard to find anything that he can physically stretch out on.

Wow pricey! But i agree, that incubator is neat looking lol and wow great find on the sofa!

Vintage is a euphemism for old, broken, and/or dilapidated. The use of that word also hints that the item will be overvalued and overpriced. I steer clear of any listing with that descriptor.

Lol I think she just didn't want to throw away dad's old junk...I can go buy a brand new brooder ballast and a bulb for $15.99 at Bomgaars

As long as my wife doesn't refer to me as her vintage dear husband, I'm doing good. lol I just found this item for sale on eBay with the word "vintage" in the title description: TSC sells a better, newer one for $6.

DH and I enjoy estate sales and auctions. We have found so many old "antique" cages, feeders, waterers etc at those sales and its amazing how much people will pay for them! We went to one specifically for a plucker one time, and there was this redneck chicken dude that literally bought EVERYTHING chicken oriented. Bid us up too high on everything so we finally gave up. Then DH ended up missing the plucker, which sold for just $75. It's OK, I didn't need 20 more feeders and old "vintage" water troughs with "vintage" chicken poo included *lol vintage husband!

That's actually pretty well made! That's a pretty good way to make a few bucks; make ten of those and sell them on CL... hmmmm
